A half-century of care: Brockville family turns gratitude into support for the future of long-term care

This Friday, Ed and Jane Vanderbaaren is welcoming the community to the Brockville Country Club for the third annual Eddie Spaghetti Dinner - a fast growing local tradition that combines a three-course meal with a showcase of work from area artisans.

The event is raising funds to support Sherwood Park Manor (SPM), Brockville's only non-profit, non-municipal long-term care home. According to Lauren Kutchaw, Director of Fundraising, this year's event will carry a special tribute to Min Vanderbaaren, Ed and Jane's mother.

After moving into the Manor at age 97 for more individualized care, Min died earlier this year just after celebrating her 100th birthday. Min's story, her family says, captures the heart of SPM's resident-focused approach to care.
