Visiting hours take place from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. If a resident is in failing health, there are no restrictions on visiting hours. If a resident returns to the Manor after 9:00 p.m., family members are encouraged to assist the resident to their room. We do not make an announcement advising that visiting hours are over, we are simply encouraging family and friends to refrain from entering the building after 9:00 p.m. We respectfully request your assistance in adhering to these visiting hours.

Many staff and residents have sensitivities to fragrances. We kindly ask that visitors, staff, volunteers and guests refrain from wearing scented products in the Manor. Your cooperation with this request is greatly appreciated.

Staff at Sherwood Park Manor wants to assist each new resident with the transition to their new home. The following brief descriptions of our services will help you and your family with this transition.

Handwashing is the single best defense against the spread of infection. Please be diligent in using hand sanitizer as you enter and leave the home after signing in and out. We also request that you refrain from visiting for five days after any respiratory symptoms commence and for seventy-two hours after any gastrointestinal infection. Our residents and staff will benefit from your attention to this important infection control precaution. If we all work together we can minimize the risk to our residents.

Palliative Care Program

Palliative Care is the active, compassionate care of the terminally ill at a time when their disease is no longer responsive to traditional treatment and when the control of symptoms – physical, emotional and spiritual – is paramount.

The palliative care program is resident centered. Resident, family and friends are involved in the treatment planning with the palliative care team so they can make choices based on knowledge and understanding.

Palliative Care Services will be delivered within professionally accepted standards of conduct and practice. We have a number of trained palliative care volunteers who are able to assist during this time.

The palliative care program remains committed to the ongoing education for staff, residents, families and volunteers.
